World Heritage Urban Sites are defined as cities, towns, and other settlements that are recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as having cultural, historical, and/or architectural significance.

The UNESCO has designated 67 World Heritage Sites in six countries of Southern Asia: Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Bhutan and Maldives, which are also located within the region, do not have any World Heritage Sites.
